Big Changes!

Posted in Family, Life by lgirl on June 30th, 2008

We’re moving into a new home (above is the view from our patio) in just about 2 weeks from now and talk about work, work, and more work……….it’s a major amount of back breaking lifting, moving, cleaning, packing, ad infinitum, but we know it’ll all be worth it in the end.

We are scaling down into a smaller home without a basement and going from approximately 2500 sq. ft. to around 1850 sq. ft. which doesn’t sound like a lot but it’ll take a bit of getting used to, that’s for sure. I think I’ll adjust to it fairly quickly though, because I really want to simplify both our space and the ’stuff’ we have accumulated over the years. It’s unbelievable to come face to face with just how much we’ve either bought, hoarded, decided we just couldn’t live without, or plain lugged with us from our old home thinking we’d definitely need it or use it……WRONG.

Anyone who has moved recently knows that it’s not for sissies! I’m looking forward to the days after we move into our new home and then I can unpack boxes at my own pace and not have to worry about a time frame of any kind. I’d love to hear from those of you who have moved and may have some good advice which I haven’t thought of.

Anna’s 1st Birthday

Posted in Family by lgirl on February 9th, 2008

This weekend we’re celebrating our 2nd granddaughter’s big day…..she is such a sweetheart and this is her first of many birthdays to come. She is the middle child of an older sister, and a newborn brother! Each child is so precious in their trust, their innocence, and the love they give so freely. I feel blessed to have these sweethearts to love and to laugh with as we play, read, or do whatever!

Speaking of kitty cats, here’s a picture of my two spoiled ones, Bunny and Trixie. They were born in the same litter and a friend of my brothers was giving them away at the time. He had 5 in all and we picked these two, one male (the larger one in the photo) and one female. It’s nothing short of amazing how different in temperament they are….Bunny is cuddly and affectionate and is ‘my boy’, and Trixie is stand-off-ish and her motto is “please don’t touch me” and she’s strictly my ‘husband’s girl ‘. They like to cuddle together on my lap, but only in the evening as certain routines must not be disturbed at any cost, LOL.

A Long Time

Posted in Life by lgirl on January 30th, 2008

It’s been quite awhile since I’ve updated my Word Press blog with any content. I briefly thought of deleting it since I don’t think anyone but sweet, Susan reads it, but then I decided, sod that, and I’ll continue regardless to write down whatever thoughts come to mind and enjoy it all alone if need be.

We had a wonderful Christmas and 2008 has begun on a very good note with the arrival of my third grandchild, Johnathan Thomas. He is our first grandson, so that makes this kind of extra special, although I sure do love my sweet little granddaughters. The good Lord has treated us kindly in that all of our children and grandchildren as well as ourselves are happy, safe, and healthy….what more can one ask in this world.

Autumn At Last

Posted in Skies by lgirl on October 23rd, 2007

Yes, it’s finally here and finally cooling off in my neck of the woods. I hate it when summer continues to hang on right into November and that’s just what’s been happening around here….I truly hope summer is now OVER, at long last. In the fall I feel so much more energized and ready to tackle fall cleaning and organizing, etc. and we all know that Christmas is now just around the corner and that means I have lots to do and not all that much time to do it in. Like so many of you, I always swear that I will start shopping earlier to avoid that last mad dash, but I have yet to do so.

This is the sky at sunset last night…..isn’t it gorgeous? I love to see all the different colors and puffy clouds that appear as we go through the fall and winter each night at sunset. This is the view we have from our deck so I consider myself very lucky, indeed.

I’ve been pretty busy with lots of other things these days and so I haven’t posted very often, not that I think it matters because in all probability, not that many people even stop by and read my modest blog, but that’s okay…..I enjoy it and that’s just fine. I’ve been knitting and crocheting nightly for a few Christmas gifts that I want to finish. This is the progress so far on my ripple blanket which is almost completed now. After I’m finished I will put a row of reverse crochet along the sides and weave in all the pesky yarn ends.

That’s about it for now so until next time, take care, have a great week and I leave you with this saying which has become one of my favorites: “All I ask is the chance to prove that money can’t make me happy.” Spike Milligan

A Great Weekend

Posted in Family, Life by lgirl on September 16th, 2007

My husband and I were treated to a fabulous weekend thanks to 3 of our sons and their wives……is was great! We arrived to their new house at the beach and after lots of hugs, we proceeded up to the rooftop deck where the sun was lowering itself into the daytime sky. The breeze was blowing and life is certainly good. We had champagne, brie with water crackers and delicious strawberries. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, they presented me with my birthday gift (which was in August).

This is the very first picture I took with my brand new Canon Power Shot SD1000 Digital Camera…..it’s a beauty and takes absolutely fabulous pictures but the best part of it to me is the huge viewing screen which allows me to actually see so much better when I get ready to take a picture. I know I haven’t even scratched the surface of just what this baby can do, but I am enjoying every bit of learning about it’s capabilities.

We also went to a fantastic brunch and believe me when I tell you that the food was sensational, but nothing could top the dessert table……and I rest my case!

Isn’t this a spectacular array of just one portion of this spread of mouth watering desserts? I tried my best to resist but it just wasn’t happening, so I caved in and had one of the mousse cups you see in the picture and one or two other delicasies that I neglected to get pictures of. Just the same, it was a wonderful time had by all and a great weekend…..I have the best kids in the world and I am very blessed and thankful.
